about

This is the first time I have written a Christian song, having only fairly recently begun my journey into faith.

The song started as a couple of lines of lyrics and chords on an out of tune piano. Something about it stuck in my mind and the melody and first few lines just wouldn't leave me alone. I desperately wanted to finish the song but couldn't find the words. It wasn't until several months later whilst attending the Alpha course in Bournemouth that it all just seemed to pour out in one go!

I got to work recording it at home and felt truly blessed that a dear friend, Mike Brooks, visiting from the U.S.A was kind enough to add a beautiful guitar part to the song. I've spent the last few weeks finishing the track and working with my husband, Lyndon to build this website and make a video for the song.

I didn't know what a testimony was until recently, but I think this is mine!

I've set up a website with Lyndon, www.athousandtimes.co.uk which describes our dream and what we are aiming to work towards. We feel called to establish a stewardship project, celebrating and protecting this beautiful earth, nurturing individuals and groups through social, spiritual and environmental education. Our dream is to inspire and encourage people to develop their creativity and talents, learn practical skills to live more lightly on this earth and to build happy healthy communities. We'd love to raise enough money to purchase a small farm where we could live and host our project from, working with people in our community, promoting respect, love and understanding for each other and for the environment through practical means. ('A Thousand Times' is our first fundraising attempt towards this goal; we're not expecting to raise everything we need from one song!)

I do hope that you enjoy the song,

Laura x

lyrics

Verse 1
A thousand times I'd see you look right over
But I looked away, I stared right down at my feet
A thousand times I felt you holding your arm out
But I moved away, yes I brushed you away
A thousand times I heard you calling my name
But I would never respond, I'd turn my ears away
In all these moments I can honestly say
I found it hard to accept you and I turned away

Pre-chorus 1
This is me asking won’t you come and try again
This is me calling out I want to let you in

Chorus
This is my moment, arms are wide open
I welcome you in
This is my moment, eyes are wide open
I want to know you

Verse 2
A thousand ways in which I need to thank you
For what you gave away for my soul to be saved
A thousand ways that I am wishing to praise you
Now I've seen the light, yes I've seen your light
A thousand things I know I need to do now
To put your words into action now I know the truth
A thousand people do I want to reach
And share this wonderful feeling now my heart’s believing

Pre-chorus 2
This is me thanking you for loving who I am
This is me trusting since I know I'm in your plan

Chorus

Bridge
Ready and able
Listening hard now
Know that you've got my hand
Stronger beside you
Feelings are so new
I know that I'm in your plan

(Guitar solo)
Chorus
